For more than a decade I dreamt of having my own longarm quilting machine and later this year my dream will come true. The realization of that dream will be the result of a very sad event, my mother's passing. A lifetime full of gifts from my mother, her wisdom and experience, have greatly contributed to my success as a wife, mother and human being, which has in turn has provided that for my own children.
My mother was the daughter of immigrants who were determined to ensure the future security and happiness of their children and all future generations. My mother observed their dedication and lived her life with the same determination and hard work to great success.
Soon my inheritance, her final monetary gift to me, will provide me with immense pleasure and satisfaction for years to come, to build a new studio in with to work be creative. I know that she would be thrilled to know just how much it will enhance my life.

Still in the planning and dreaming stages, my soon-to-be dedicated quilting studio will house not only my very own longarm quilting machine, but enough space to hold classes and retreats. In the past I have taught quilting classes and held weekend quilting retreats in my home but this will be even better for all involved, including my husband! He has always welcomed students to our home and supported my passion but soon he will be completely undisturbed by my classes and retreats.
Already my friends have asked if I will teach again soon and whether I will offer longarm quilting services--how exciting! Of course the answer is YES!
For their and my peace of mind, before that happens, I will quilt a stack of my own quilts to build their and my confidence. In preparation, I have created a list of all my existing quilt tops and my many UFO's that I can practice on. I am making a list so that I may check them off, and I will share photos as I do so.
Here are the first two finishes, 1600 Jelly Roll quilts that were professionally quilted as I wanted them done in a hurry; they are both gifts.

Now I'm working on is a BOM (block of the month) from I bought back in 2009 from The Cloth Shop in Vancouver. "Hollyburn" is pieced and appliquéd in scrumptious batiks. Hollyburn Mountain is adjacent to Cypress Mountain, or to Vancouverites, Cypress Bowl, where some events of the 2010 Winter Olympics were held. Hmm, another project with batiks? Yes, I'm addicted!
